Susan Saksun at work A creative father, children's books, artists such as C.A. Henry, Robert Livsey Wells, and Brian Atyeo, who all have a love of play, have been inspirational to her.

Moving a lot in her youth, she turned to her sketchbook and found a constant companion - her art became a perfect outlet for self-expression and communication.

A bout with post partum depression turned her art into therapy, and dramatically changed the way she views and appreciates the world.

Above all, she experiences pure joy by immersing herself in the process of creation.

Depending on mood and subject, she likes to alternate between a loose style, and a minute and methodical approach. Go to the 'Squares, Dot's and Laundry' gallery and view the first two paintings - 'My Claire', and 'The Ordinary Escaping', for examples of diversity in style.

Susan studied art at the University of Victoria, and has a background in drafting, computer graphics, teaching art to young children, and theatre set design.

She now specializes in original oil and acrylic painting , commissioned portraits, and photography. She devotes all her time to her own art.

Her recent works are held in private collections across Canada, Britain, and India.
